Nursing Professional Development Program

The mission of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions Nursing Professional Development Program is to provide quality, evidence-based educational offerings based upon emerging patterns of nursing and healthcare, societal needs, and expressed needs of the registered nurse learner.

These offerings are provided to professional nurses in the Acadiana area who are practicing in diverse settings across the lifespan and health continuum.

These educational offerings are accredited by ANCC and fulfill the requirements for Louisiana state board relicensure and recredentialing in practice specialties.

Nursing Update Series

Each academic year, we offer a wide variety of nursing professional development (NPD) programs through our “Nursing Update Series” to assist RNs and APRNs in meeting their licensure requirements and maintaining practice competency in a variety of interest and practice areas. Program topics are developed as a result of input from area nurses, nursing administrators, and nursing educators. Many local healthcare organizations support our program and their nurse employees by subscribing to the Nursing Update Series. If you are employed by a facility who subscribes to our Nursing Update Series, registration fees are significantly discounted.

We are in the process of updating our Nursing Update Series 2021-22 information as well as implementing a new online, learning center.  Please check back with us soon for updates.

Joint-Provider Opportunities

We collaborate with many organizations to joint-provide nursing professional development (NPD) educational activities.  If you or your organization is interested in working with our Lead Nurse Planner to plan, develop, and implement an NPD activity, please contact our office at 337-482-6682 or email for further information.

We are an LSBN approved provider of Continuing Education – Provider Number 9.
