Simulation & Learning Labs

The LHC Group · Myers School of Nursing Simulation Program has eight Simulation Labs, including:

  • two low-fidelity labs,
  • three high-fidelity labs, one being a Critical Care Lab
  • a Maternal Child Lab, and a
  • a Health Promotion Lab

The labs are equipped with a multitude of simulators ranging from low-fidelity task trainers to high-fidelity patient care simulators and virtual reality learning systems.

Simulation-based learning activities are facilitated by the Simulation Program Coordinator and Simulation Program faculty and staff, and governed by the Simulation Committee, who all have advanced knowledge and skills in simulation pedagogy.

Program Accreditation

The Nursing Simulation Program was recently granted full accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Health Care and its Council for Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation for a five-year period, joining only 100 programs in 10 countries to earn this distinguished designation.

Accreditation is designed for simulation programs in academic health settings, hospitals, medical associations, stand-alone facilities, and other educational settings, and can be focused on one or more of the following areas: assessment, research, teaching/education, or systems integration. The focus of the accreditation designation for UL Lafayette is teaching/education.
