UL Lafayette · Ochsner Accelerated BSN Program
This program is a partnership between UL Lafayette and Ochsner Lafayette General meant for students with a completed, non-nursing bachelor's degree looking to join the exciting field of healthcare. Earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in our accelerated 15 month program designed to prepare you with a combination of teaching methodologies including didactic courses, clinical and lab experiences, and hybrid interactive learning courses.
Starting in May 2024, you can begin your nursing courses for this program, but you can work on your prerequisites right now.

Requirements
To enroll in the UL Lafayette · Ochsner Accelerated BSN Program, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Completed non-nursing bachelor's degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Accepted and Enrolled at UL Lafayette
- Completed the program interview
- Completed 50 hours of required general education prerequisite courses before beginning your nursing courses
Once enrolled, you'll begin your 70 hours of required nursing courses, in which you are required to maintain a grade of “C” or better in each major nursing course and a grade of “Satisfactory” in each nursing laboratory course or clinical component. You are also required to complete clinical rotations at Ochsner Lafayette General.
Transfer Requirements
Your bachelor’s degree may be from any field as long as it is from an institutionally accredited college or university. You must have on overall GPA of at least 3.0 from your previous program to apply.
Your transfer credits for general education courses completed during your previous bachelor’s degree program may be applied to the UL Lafayette · Ochsner Accelerated BSN Program. The number of prerequisites required may vary depending on the applicable courses from your previous bachelor’s degree program.
Contact the Registrar's Office at all institutions you attended before applying to UL Lafayette. Ask them to email or mail your transcripts directly to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
If you are currently taking classes at another university, you can submit your current transcript and we’ll review it for initial eligibility. Submit your final official transcript when you have completed your current classes.
Special Program Benefits
As a student in the UL Lafayette · Ochsner Accelerated BSN Program, you have access to certain benefits only available for this program.
- You may earn your BSN in as little as 15 months in this accelerated program.
- Your contract in this program provides tuition for your nursing courses and a contractually guaranteed job with Ochsner for three years after graduation.
- Your clinical rotations will take place at Ochsner Lafayette General or an Oschner-affiliated agency.
After Graduation
Once you've graduated, you have a great career ahead of you.
Upon completion of all requirements of a baccalaureate degree in nursing, graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN) and receive approval to practice as a Registered Nurse from the regulatory agency in the state in which they intend to work.
This program prepares its students for licensure or certification within the state of Louisiana. Please visit the list of licensure programs for important information if you plan to move out of state.
As part of this program, you will have contractually committed to working with Ochsner Lafayette General for three years.
