UL Lafayette in Top 12% for MSN Online Program
Wed, 01/27/2021 - 7:51amThe University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s online Master of Science in Nursing now ranks among the top 25 programs in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report.
The agency released its 2021 Best Online Programs rankings Tuesday with UL Lafayette’s online degree programs climbing in every eligible category.
The University’s online MSN program is No. 23 in the country — higher than any other program in Louisiana.
“This validates the hard work faculty have been doing to put together an online master’s program that is of superior quality,” said Dr. Melinda Oberleiter, dean for the College of Nursing and Allied Health. “We're in the top 12% of ranked programs in the country. We know we are doing a good job, but this is external validation of that work.”
Oberleitner says the ranking is one of many metrics the college uses to measure the effectiveness and quality of its graduate nursing program. Another is how master’s graduates perform on their national certification exams.
“In each category, our students score higher than the national average,” Oberleitner says. “Having our students score 100% year after year on that certification exam is another benchmark that lets us know our program is doing what it needs to do and we're on the right track with our curriculum.”
