A Message from the Dean

This past year has brought so much excitement to our College as we continue to grow. On June 9, 2025 our Nursing Simulation Program relocated to James D. Moncus Hall. This move enables us to continue to offer the latest innovations in health care simulation education and allows our junior and senior nursing students to complete all of their on-campus experiences at Moncus Hall. As we prepare to graduate the first cohort of our UL Lafayette Ochsner Lafayette General Accelerated BSN Program, the second cohort began in May. Additionally, the Department of Health Sciences is preparing to launch the Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Cancer Registry Management in August, and plans are underway to develop a Bachelor’s program in Cardiopulmonary Science.

Over the past year, our college hosted several exciting events, including the Academic Speaker Series featuring esteemed Nursing alumnus Dr. Camille Claiborne. We also hosted the 46th American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences Congress, which included experts in health informatics from across the globe. Philanthropy and fundraising remain a priority for the College, with major gifts received in the names of two beloved former faculty members, Dr. Anne Broussard and Marilyn Buford. Undergraduate research is at record levels, with nursing and health sciences students publishing manuscripts in peer reviewed journals and presenting at state and national conferences.

The ongoing support from our University, as well as our health industry partners, donors and community colleagues, allows us to continue to excel as we strive to meet the health care workforce needs of the state and the region. We are very excited to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of our College in March 2026, and are looking forward to hosting our alumni, colleagues, and partners for a fantastic event. Details will be coming later this year, and we hope to see you there!

Warmest regards,

Dr. Lisa Broussard
Dean, College of Nursing and Health Sciences
